Handguns

Small, compact guns can provide hours of target shooting enjoyment. Two fun guns to shoot at this local gun range are members of the 9mm family.  For accurate, on-target shooting, look no further than the Sig Sauer P365 and the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. Both 9MM handguns are lightweight and compact, easy to clean and disassemble/assemble. 9MM models are a great option for first-time shooters and make an easy concealed carry option.

While the 9MM models don’t vary much in specifications, there are a few notable differences.   The Sig Sauer P365 is just a bit smaller and a bit lighter than the S & W model. Here are some comparison facts and figures.

Sig Sauer P365 overview:

·         Semi-Auto Pistol

·         External Manual Safety

·         XRAY3 Day/Night sights

·         Length of 5.8 inches

·         Weight of 17.8 ounces

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield overview:

·         Safety: Thumb Safety

·         Barrel Length measures 3.1 inches

·         Overall length comes in at 6.1 inches

·         Weight is 18.2 oz

·         Front sight is Hi Viz Green Fiber Option

·         Rear sight is HI VIZ Red Fiber Optic

Both options are popular in the gun world, with longevity within their names.

Smith & Wesson dates back many generations and is a staple within the gun making trade. Tradition plays a big part within the popularity of S & W, as does fine craftsmanship.

The Sig P365 is a steady and reliable option, providing accurate shots and line-up capabilities. The fixed sights ensure quality, steady aim with each squeeze of the trigger.

Pistols

Smith and Wesson make the list here as well, for their .22 semi-automatic blowback pistols. A .22 caliber is fun and sporty, making it a great fun gun choice for our local shooting range. Smith & Wesson’s SW22 Victory pistol is another prime example of a compact and sturdy option for the range. With a fixed front sight and an adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation, together with the lightweight and minimal recoil, this pistol is fun and cost-effective to shoot. It is also fairly ambidextrous, with its thumb safety, magazine release, and decocking lever all being suitable for right- and left-handed shooters.

Another pistol to consider for your next trip to our local shooting range is from Ruger. Ruger’s SR22 rimfire pistol maintains a stellar reputation for being extremely reliable and positively accurate. An added bonus of the SR22 is the removable Interchangeable Match Barrel. Both have low-cost shooting and are extremely accurate. Easy to clean, light to hold, and made within a solid reputation, these .22 pistols are quite popular at the shooting range.

The AR

Saving the best for last! First-time users must disregard the negative reputation within the news outlets and among non-gun users. The fact is, an Armalite rifle (AR) is one of the most fun rifles to shoot at our local range. Whether shooting close range or a long distance, the powerful yet lightweight AR is becoming the more popular choice. In addition to great target shooting fun, the AR is becoming more popular in the hunting world as well as for home defense.
